Ingredients in Homemade Taco Seasoning:

  • Dark Chili powder – dark chili powder is made specifically from ancho chilies and has a sweeter, smokier flavor and a deeper color than regular chili powder.
  • Ground cumin – accentuates the sweetness
  • Smoky paprika – enhances flavors
  • Cayenne pepper – brings the heat
  • Onion powder – enhances flavor
  • Dried oregano – I prefer Mexican oregano in my seasoning. Regular oregano can be used.
  • Garlic powder – enhances flavor
  • Red pepper flakes – add some heat to the seasoning.
  • Sea salt – Fine salt is used to season, increasing the flavor of food with less salt because it is a stronger salt.
  • Ground black pepper – enhances flavor and spice.
