Sonoran Hot Dog, a hot dog that is wrapped in bacon and grilled, served on a bolillo-style hot dog bun and topped with pinto beans, onions, tomatoes, and a variety of additional condiments, often including mayonnaise, mustard, and jalapeño salsa.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 jumbo beef hot dogs
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 4 bolillo buns
  • 1 plum tomato diced or sliced
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 1 can 16 ozpinto beans (black beans can be used)
  • Mayonnaise Mexican crema can be used instead
  • Mustard
  • 1/2 cup Jalapeño salsa or salsa verde
  • Optional toppings: diced avocados sour cream, crumbled cotija, pickled jalapeños

Instructions
 

  • Grill bacon-wrapped hot dog for 5-8 minutes on medium heat
  • Warm bolillo buns for 20-30 seconds. Warm-up beans.
  • Cut bolillo bun to create a pocket and place beans (about 2 tablespoons) on each bun.
  • Place hot dog next on the buns, then tomatoes, onions, mustard, mayo, and salsa.
  • Optional toppings can be added.
