Have you ever tried Bionicos (Mexican Fruit Cups)? It’s a delicious Mexican dessert that became popular in the city of Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico, in the early 1990s. Basically, it’s a fruit salad filled with a variety of fruits that are chopped up into small cubes, then covered with crema and topped off with granola, shredded coconut, raisins, and sometimes honey. You should give it a try!
I highly recommend using your favorite fruits. If they are not in season, just use seasonal fruits. Be a little adventurous and try as many fruit combinations as possible.

What is in Bionicos | Mexican Fruit Cups
Fruit: Great fruit combos are whatever you prefer.
- Pineapple, blueberries, cherries, strawberries
- Papaya, banana, apples, mango
Crema Mixture: Mexican Crema, Sweetened Condensed Milk (fat-free or regular), and Yogurt (plain or vanilla). If you can´t find Mexican crema, you can substitute it with Crème Fraîche.
Granola: Store-bought or homemade granola provides the perfect crunch in this fruit cup.
Raisins: Craisins can be used instead of raisins.
Honey: drizzle between layers for that extra sweetness
Coconut: Sweetened coconut flakes or shredded work for this recipe.
Nuts: Chopped nuts like pecans, walnuts, almonds, and peanuts
The sweetness of the condensed milk and shredded coconut makes your taste buds ask for more of this delicious dessert.
