Did you know that ‘Michelada’ loosely translates to ‘my cold beer’? Pretty cool, right? Here is what you’ll need for this beer-based cocktail.

Ingredients in Classic Michelada

  • Hot sauce – Valentina, Tobasco, or Tapatio
  • Tajin – chile-lime seasoning for rimming the glass
  • Lime juice – fresh is recommended but bottled juice can be used
  • Maggi seasoning sauce – If Maggi seasoning is not available, you can use soy sauce as a substitute.
  • Lime – limes cut into wedges
  • Beer – Modelo, Corona, Tecate, Pacifico, or non-alcoholic beer
  • Ice cubes

What are these ingredients?
Tajin – Tajin is a Mexican seasoning blend of chili peppers, lime juice, and salt that is salty, citrusy, and mildly spicy.
Maggi Seasoning Sauce – Maggi is a thin, dark liquid with a hint of soy sauce blended with strong beef broth.

How To Make a Classic Michelada

💡Tip – Chill the pint glass for 15 minutes before serving.

  • Spread Tajin® on a small plate. To prepare a pint glass, gently moisten the rim with a lime wedge and then dip it into the Tajin® to coat the glass rim with salt.
  • Fill a chilled glass about halfway with ice. Add the lime juice, Maggi seasoning sauce, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce to a small bowl. Mix with a spoon, then pour evenly between each glass.
  • Start by opening your beers and carefully pouring one beer into each chilled glass. Remember to tilt the glass at an angle to prevent excessive foam. After pouring the beer, gently stir it to ensure it is well-mixed. Enjoy!
