🌶What’s in Habanero Hot Sauce?
Habaneros -Don’t know if you can handle the heat? use fewer habaneros….start with half the amount.
Onions – white onions are what I use but yellow can be used.
Carrots – rinsed and peeled, and roughly chopped
Vinegar – white or apple cider vinegar (sweeter taste)
Garlic – More or fewer garlic cloves can be used according to your taste.
Salt & Sugar – Adjust to taste.
Lime juice – freshly squeezed is better, but bottled lime juice can be used.

Making Habanero Hot Sauce
- Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add carrots, onions, and garlic to the saucepan and cook vegetables till soft, about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the carrot mixture to a blender or food processor.
- Add the habanero peppers, water, sugar, lime juice, vinegar, and salt to the blender/processor and blend until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and simmer for 3-5 minutes. Use a funnel to pour into your favorite empty bottles, wait for the hot sauce to come to room temperature, then refrigerate.
STORING HABANERO HOT SAUCE
- It should keep a few months easily in the fridge, or even longer.

Habanero Hot Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/2 small white onion roughly chopped
- 6 garlic cloves peeled
- 10-12 medium orange habaneros stemmed and cut in half
- 1 medium carrot peeled and roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoon lime juice
- 2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook and stir the carrots, onion, and garlic in the hot oil until soft, about 10 minutes
- Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor.
- Add the habanero peppers, water, lime juice, vinegar, and salt to the blender/processor and blend until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Use a funnel to pour into your favorite empty bottles, wait for hot sauce to come to room temperature, then refrigerate.
