  • Chile Peppers – Canned diced green chiles
  • Garlic– minced garlic
  • Onion– diced white onions
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Ground cumin
  • Jalapeño ( optional for spicy)
  • Olive Oil
  • Broth – Chicken or vegetable broth
  • All-purpose Flour

How to Make Green Enchilada Sauce

  • To prepare the sauce, take a medium-sized saucepan and heat some oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until soft. 
  • Transfer the onion mixture to a blender or food processor. Add broth, diced green chiles, Jalapeño(optional), cumin, salt, and black pepper. Then puree until completely smooth.
  • Add oil to a large skillet, then flour and brown lightly. Add the chile mixture to the skillet and bring to a boil. Add more broth to thin out if needed. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Salt to taste.

Storing

Refrigerator – store sauce in an airtight container, it will last for 2 to 3 days 

Freezer – Sauce will last in the freezer for 2-3 months in an airtight container

  • 3 cans 4 oz diced green chiles
  • 1/4 cup onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 jalapeño diced (optional)
  • 1 tsp. Kosher salt or sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil divided

Instructions
